This chess congress is a part of the ECF Grand Prix. The venue of this tournament is Frodsham Community Centre located in Fluin Lane, Frodsham, Cheshire, WA6 7Q. Frodsham Chess Congress has controllers Roger Edwards, Matthew Carr, Robert Milner, and Andrew Davies.
The Congress is supported by the Cheshire and North Wales Chess Association and Frodsham Chess Club. The tournament is concentrated on Fischer timing and each player is provided with 110 minutes with the addition of 10 seconds for each move made.
Players are also provided with the facility such as if they wish to withdraw during the event; they must notify the section Controller, to avoid inconvenience to their next opponent. Players whose opponents have not arrived within 30 minutes of their clock starting will be re-paired if possible.
In regards to the grading list, the August 2013 Grading List will be used. However, upgraded players must provide information to assist the organizers while allocating them to the appropriate section. Additionally any previous grade must be declared to the organizers. A player without a current published grade in a grading list recognized by the organizers will not be eligible to win more than £50.00. All results will be submitted to the ECF for grading.
Congress Organizer Pat Ridley has several facilities adjusted for the players. Each player’s position is justified according to his grading.
Frodsham Weekend Chess Congress is a year old event. The first weekend congresses took place in the years 1986 and 1987 which was organized by the Cheshire & North Wales Chess Association, as the C&NWCA Annual Congress and this event received county titles awards.
