Traxler Counter Attack Chess Opening Variation

The traxler counter-attack is the most popular defensive opening, also it is one of the best combative openings for the black while the white is okay with playing the Italian game.

The tracker counter-attack mainly obtains from the two knights defense from the black after the whites wish to develop the game into an Italian game.

Black counter attacks with his Bc5 when white moves his knight to g5 in intended to attack the weakened f7 square, black overlooking his safety for a lethal attack on white's kingside.

These first four moves are the Traxler Counterattack:

  1. e4 e5
  2. Nf3 Nc6
  3. Bc4 Nf6
  4. Ng5 Bc5

This is one of the good ways to win the match fast and only applicable for black. Black can initiate the counter-attack with his Bxf2 if the opponent white picks up the pawn f7 with his knight while forming the queen and the rook.

It creates immense difficulties for white to walk off while having his king chased around the entire chessboard and although black is down in the material early, it is easy for black to summon his pieces into action very quickly while white is having a hard time in moving his queenside pieces.

This kind of opening is a mark of brilliant players because this kind of opening is very brilliant as well as too aggressive, which matches a creative as well as a combative mind with a steady nerve.

On the other hand, the Fried Liver attack is an aggressive opening for white which makes him sacrifice his one knight and break the two knights defense and attack the Black king. This is also a part of the Italian game and also referred to as the fegatello attack.

Every beginner should know the Fried Liver Attack. It’s not only one of the most fascinating and common openings frequently played in scholastic chess, but also a strong opening weapon used by grandmasters from time to time. The Fried Liver Attack is an aggressive chess opening for White which starts of the Italian Game.

This kind of attack is only possibly played when the opponent black is not enough careful. But, again speaking from experience, which will be the case in 9 out of 10 games. It is one of the most aggressive openings from White and makes him sacrifice one of his minor pieces very early in the game. The Black king will be forced into the middle of the board and will be in great danger during the whole game.

On the other hand, the Lolly attack is a similarly aggressive and clever opening for white in the Italian game when black build their defense with two knights. Instead of immediately sacrificing the knight on f7, white instead plays d4, sacrificing another pawn and then castling kingside.

  • e4 e5
  • Nf3 Nc6
  • Bc4 Nf6
  • Ng5 d5
  • exd5 Nxd5
  • d4 exd4

This is very similar to the Fried Liver Attack, but castling on the kingside gives white another powerful piece, the rook, involved in the attack. Regardless of how black defends, white will look to sacrifice his knight on f7 is the start the assault against the black king.

Even though black is up in material, white has a big advantage and scores extremely high in the win category in chess competitions. This is very difficult to play as black as the king is chased all over the board and it’s tough to find much counter play.

Though every game has a winner as well as a looser, this kind of openings in chess is very brilliant as well as aggressive. While the two knights defense move or the Traxler counter-attack is the most popular opening for black to defense their king on the other hand white also has two brilliant moves to break the black defense system.
